No athlete’s elevation to the elite level has been higher or faster than Alec’s, jettisoning him onto the international stage in record time.

Stepping onto a netball court for the first time just seven years ago, Alec began playing socially before taking the next step into South Australia’s MLeague competition in 2019.

Encouraged to trial for the South Australian men’s state representative team, he earned selection in the Under 23 division. However, his opportunity was denied due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As the sport was sidelined for several years, Alec’s hunger and determination only grew, fuelling his drive to finally represent his state at his first National Championships, held in his hometown of Adelaide.

From there, Alec continued his development as an open-aged athlete, earning selection in the Men’s Reserves before being named in the Open Mixed team in 2024, where he became a driving force in the goal circle. Brilliant at finding space and reading the play of his circle feeders, his impressively accurate long-range shooting helped lead his team to victory at the 2025 AMMNA Championships.

Alec’s performance at the tournament stood out, earning him an invitation to a Kelpies selection camp and, ultimately, a position on the Australian Men’s National Team for the 2025–26 season.

Adding to the significance of his debut, when Alec steps onto the court in his first match for Australia, he will become the first South Australian athlete to receive a Kelpies cap in 30 years.
