AusPlay participation data update

Participation of males in netball across Australia has surged according to Sport Australia’s lastest AusPlay data.

The July 2017 to June 2018 survey reported approximately 73,000 male participants around the country.

The latest survey (capturing data from July 2018 to June 2019), shows an increase of almost 50%, revealing more than 107,500 play the game at some level. It equates to approximately 11.2% of total participants in Australia.

Around 23,600 participants are under the age of 14, while those aged 15 and over tally almost 84,000.

AMMNA President Grant Crocker was thrilled with the news.

“It’s a lot of boys playing netball, isn’t it!

“It’s brilliant news for the sport and falls in line with reporting from our state members, who have seen growth in teams competing in their M-League and Junior M-League competitions, in addition to an increase in the number of teams participating at the Australian Championships over the last few years also, so that’s great.

“It’s fantastic that the numbers are growing and we hope it continues.”
