Umpire testing approved for mens and mixed netball
The Australian Mens and Mixed Netball Association (AMMNA) are delighted to share the following news from Netball Australia regarding umpire testing on mens and mixed matches.
“In recent times, we have received a number of queries on whether or not testing for badges may occur on mens and/or mixed netball matches. Netball Australia has considered these requests in relation to the National Umpire Development Framework (NUDF) and wishes to confirm the following approved changes to testing:
1. Testing for C and B badges may now take place on a men’s and/or mixed game of netball, so long as the match meets the following conditions:
a. The match is being played on a competition that is affiliated to the respective Member Organisation;
b. The candidate has fulfilled the required pre-requisites prior to testing;
c. The testing panel is assembled in line with the requirements of the NUDF;
d. The Member Organisation determines that the standard of the game is at the required level to test for a C or B badge – that is the games have sufficient level of skill within them for an umpire to be able to display the required competencies of the badge; AND
e. The match meets the requirements outlined in the NUDF: i. C Badge: Local game of 4 x 10, 12 or 15 minute quarters ii. B Badge: Local game of 4 x 15 minute quarters.
2. Testing for A badge’s will remain on female only State League competition matches of a suitable standard (4 x 15 minute quarters).
3. Approval to test for C and/or B badges on men’s and/or mixed netball matches takes effect immediately from 10 September 2018.
4. The NUDF will be updated in 2019 to reflect these changes.”
AMMNA will work closely with its member organisations and Netball Australia to ensure compliance and look forward to an increase in C-badge and B-badge umpiring accreditation moving forward.
