The world’s best to contest 2018 Trans Tasman Cup
The world’s best mens and mixed netballers will descend on Adelaide for the 2018 Trans Tasman Cup next October.
On the back of the success of New Zealand’s 20 & Under Mens invitational side at this years Australian Championships, the New Zealand Men’s & Mixed Netball Association (NZMMNA) have confirmed that they will enter a 20 & Under Mens side as part of the 2018 Trans Tasman Cup.
The series will be competed across four divisions – Open Mens, Open Mixed, 23 & Under Mens and 20 & Under Mens – with each division competing for a Trans Tasman Cup.
All twelve matches will be played at Priceline Stadium, with the first tests to kick off on Tuesday October 23 and wrapping up with all four divisions playing on Saturday October 27. The international event is AMMNA’s first on home soil since 2014.
Adam Boldiston, AMMNA’s International Director, said he is excited that mens and mixed netball was heading to Adelaide to inspire the next generation of players.
“I’m thrilled that New Zealand will once again be bringing a 20 & Under team over to Adelaide to challenge the best up and coming talent from Australia.
There’s no better rivalry than a sporting contest between Australia and New Zealand and the 2018 Trans Tasman Cup will be another brilliant example as the two countries battle it out.”
AMMNA President, Grant Crocker is looking forward to the elite international netball event returning to Australian soil.
“The Trans Tasman Cup pits the best two teams in the world for mens and mixed netball in the ultimate contest. It brings out the best in all competitors as they strive for excellence.”
The Australian teams will be selected on the back of performances at the 2018 Australian Championships in Sydney next April.
